Poem written by Newfie
Her mind was dark
His heart was black.
Pushed to the point of no turning back.
In the beginning they were so dear.
Losing her was his only fear.
As time went on the days grew cold
He knew she was no longer his to hold.
It broke his his heart
Torn to shreds.
For her he could not get out of his head.
A tear rolled down his weathered cheek
Looking for the words to speak.
I love you misses this is true
Sorry all I do is turn you blue.
So this shall be the last goodbye
Never again to be seen by your eye.
I FEAR by The Lozt Poet
I fear that I am not the person that I need to be,
I'm not the one for you to lean on or the person that you see.
I fear that I have never been and never will be the answer to anyone's prayer,
I am just a dark cloud turning your sky a little bit grayer.
I fear that I will not know success as long as I live,
I will never amount to anything no matter how hard I fight or how much I give.
I fear that the darkness will come back and swallow me once again,
Maybe the next time it happens it'll finally win.
I fear that I am just a thorn stuck on your side causing pain and sadness,
My presence is toxic and I'm draining your happiness.
I fear that we all live in a cruel and unforgiving world that will play games and lie to your face,
And the cruelest thing this world did was promise you an Angel but deliver a monster like me in its place.
The Edge of Distortion by Chris Young
The angel on the tree scares me like a demon.
Two steps up the ladder leaves me weakened.
The tip of the tree bends away.
I am trapped as I start to sway.
Two steps up or the Eiffel Tower.
There is no difference as I cower.
My bones shake so I fear they will turn to water.
I look down for a foothold, my fear tastes of copper.
Right foot reaches through the miles.
The next step pulls away from me in mockery.
Frozen, can’t move spin like a wheel throwing pottery.
Sweating and weak, shaking and meek.
From this horror no relief.
My son takes one hand, my wife the other.
Guide me down the chasm between step one and step two.
One more and my foot hits blessed floor.
I can’t beat this thing, I can’t try it anymore.
A year of my life disappears
Each time I try.
I don’t wish to be an angel. To afraid to fly.
🖤 Fear of Imperfection 🖤
by Rachael Derheim
She has many fears,
But none in which
Eats her alive as,
Her fear of imperfection.
She has struggled with her reflection for years,
And she has cried so many sorrowful lonely tears.
For all she sees,
Are her flaws.
As she she looks in the mirror, A lonely tear drop falls.
A memory has been recalled.
Memories of being told
She was fat,
By the very people who
Wore a Godly hat.
Memories of which have made her feel so worthless.
Her hopeless feelings inside,
She did try to hide.
But she swore,
She would rather bore
The bite of a belt on her backside.
Her emotions were so raw,
And made her so very insecure.
She wondered if she would
Ever find a cure.
Even at her peak,
Her tears came
And made her feel weak.
More years past,
And her differences
Seemed more on blast.
Differences which made
Her disect,
Her appearance and
Her past.
Flaws! Flaws! Flaws!
Scars! Scars! Scars!
Not just on her flesh,
But also her heart.
Although, perfection was not her goal.
She simply wanted to be
Just good enough.
But her fear controlled her.
Fear of her imperfections
Ate at her so.
She did not know,
That her imperfections
And raw tears had
Become a window,
Which bared her naked soul.
Imperfections that she once picked apart,
And now she turned them into her vulnerable art.
THE END!
CHEERS!
I have no words to express how much I really enjoyed reading such outstanding poetry. We all have fears in our lives but for the poets to capture them in words and visually allow us in was just breathtaking. Thank you poets for letting us into your world of fears. I hope one day you're all conquer theses fears with all the power from within you. Well done!

MAY POETRY CHALLENGE
Mirror Mirror.
Participants are asked to write 2 poems. The 1st poem is to be a poem about magic. The type of magic is up to the writer. The 2nd poem will be the mirror reflection of that 1st poem.
We all know what see in the mirror isn't really the reflection our minds see. What kind of reflection will your words reveal?
All poems are to be submitted by May 27, 2018 @9pm EST, to me, Ivy Valori, via email posionivysnbv@gmail.com.
In the subject write "Poetry Corner Challenge Submission."
There are two official poetry corner challenge rules that I ask you follow, the first is to please keep all submission poems private. They may not be shared on any kind of social media. All submissions will only been seen by me, Ivy, when you turn them in. Once the poetry challenge has been posted, your poems can be shared as your wish to share them. The second rule is to have all the fun in the world when creating your poem. Follow the challenge instructions and all will go well.
