WELCOME!
Hello Poetry Corner,
It's such a great pleasure to have you all here with us. We have one amazing poetry challenge for you to enjoy. We welcome back two of our original poetry corner poets and along with them we introduce two new poets. I know this challenge wasn't easy but once again we have some strong writers who didn't back down.
ENJOY!
POETRY CHALLENGE
This months poetry challenge is about going through a battle. A battle that we all have witnessed in some shape or form. All participants are asked to write a poem about the battle of Life and Death. The writer will write the poem from either prospective of life or death and they will have to show who won that battle.

Written by The Lozt Poet
I watch from the shadows as he brushes the line with the ball of his feet.
He tiptoes effortlessly as his heart keeps the perfect beat.
I'm certain that he can see us waiting patiently.
I wonder if he is destined to stay with him or go with me.
My counterpart and I anxiously await for what fate has to say
Will he take his final slumber or be allowed to stay a bit longer and play.
He teases us as he takes another drink from his cup
I swear he can see me as he fills it up once more and yells out loud "The night is young, let's drink up!!"
The alcohol in his system helps place the smug smile on his face as it hides his fear
Somehow he knows that I am not allowed to interfere.
I beg the fates to make their decision and please let me know
Do I have a reason to stay or should I just give up and go.
Just as I think that I'm going to lose this battle and he's going to be home safe and sound
The music and people quiet down as his face and body hit the ground.
I grin as I place my hand on the shoulder of my slumbering friend.
He looks at me with fear as I say unto him "You belong to me now, and your party has forever come to an end."

Edge of Madness by Miranda Newton
I stand and stare.
The darkness is a deep, black void in front of me.
Amazingly there's only quiet surrounding me.
Even the waves lapping at my feet are silent.
They must know.
The full moon is hidden behind thick, black clouds.
A storm is coming from the far away horizon.
It knows.
It sends a gentle breeze to greet me.
The strapless white dress I'd been given flutters at my knees.
Gently caressing my skin as the sea water bathes my feet.
It's the only solace I can find.
And I have to decide.
I could step forward and greet that quiet abyss.
I could step back and resume the chaos.
I could sit and allow the warmth to seep from within.
It's a choice I've wrestled for years.
And so far I've always taken the second.
Though the third is increasingly tempting.
My eyes close as I sigh.
What do I Do?
How do I continue to survive?
Why should I?
The storm creeps closer.
I have to decide.
Embrace the darkness.
Or embrace the madness.
Live or die.
Either way, I'll be the only one to notice.
And the pitch black of this night has begun to chant it's encouragement.
Entry #3
Written by R.L. Chambers
The city was a crimson wasteland,
The blood from my creations flowed freely down the streets,
And that is where I saw him,
Pointing towards me with his fleshless hand.
I had let myself be seen,
Centuries of hiding behind my creations were gone,
He had finally seen what he wanted,
And he would let nothing come between.
I commanded my greatest creation,
Humans with the knowledge of war,
I told them to protect their maker,
And they rushed the abomination.
He took a swing with his vicious sythe,
Blood, guts, and intestines all slopped to the floor,
He wasn't even toying with them,
His eyeless sockets were set on me, the very essence of Life.
He charged, quicker than a car,
a bony grin on his face,
He brought his sythe down,
I dodged out of the way, but not by far.
As he lifted up his sythe I lunged for his back,
I wrapped my arms around his neck,
And I was almost in glee,
When I heard the snap.
But that was a mistake,
And one that cost dear,
Before I knew what was happening,
I was face down in the crimson lake.
And that was the end of the war,
The sythe pierced my heart,
All life was doomed to perish,
But it was inevitable, eventually Death comes for us all.
Entry #4
“Executioner To The Crown” by Jesse Batista
A distant dark space
but, the mind knows it well
A child Learns his place
knows better than to tell
A distant arduous time
the clock strikes twelve
Slave to the beast
Life slammed on a shelve
An apprentice learns his trade
twisted Knowledge he gains
Disgust surges inside of him
Flows virulently through his veins
War wages on
in the confines of his mind
Concede to the hate
That declaration is signed
Infectious desire
To strike him down
To overcome Is to overpower
Executioner to the crown
A distant dark space
but, the mind knows it well
That child that Learned his place
knows better than to tell.
THE END!
Magnificent! Where you able to guess who won each separate battle? I really enjoyed that. The emotional expression, the tug of war in each piece was very unique. Every poet here did an outstanding job.
Thank you poets for displaying how you interrupt the battle of Life and Death. It's never easy to share such thoughts with others but you've all done it so beautifully. Continue to write and grow into your talent.
Thank you friends for joining us all today. I do hope you enjoyed all the wonderful poetry today. The poets and I hope to see you soon. Happy reading!
